Do you ejaculate daily? As a new study has revealed that daily orgasm can cut short risk of prostate cancer. Prostate cancer only affects men where cancer starts growing in a gland called prostate found in the reproductive system. According to researchers, regular practice of ejaculation could significantly reduce the risk of prostate cancer.
For the study, researchers observed participants for several years and it was found that men who ejaculated at least 21 times a month had 22 percent lower risk of developing the disease. Although an interlink between orgasm and prostate cancer was found, but researchers don’t know the exact reasons why regular ejaculation may help to stave off prostate cancer. However, previous studies have given some theories that could explain the exact reasons.
Jennifer Rider of Harvard Medical School and Brigham and Women’s Hospital, said that while these data are the most compelling to date on the potential benefit of ejaculation on prostate cancer development, they are observational data and should be interpreted somewhat cautiously. She added “At the same time, given the lack of modifiable risk factors for prostate cancer, the results of this study are particularly encouraging.”
The study can benefit millions of people in fighting the disease since more than 1.1 million people in 2012 were affected with prostate cancer, according to the report from World Cancer Research Fund International. The numbers are increasing exponentially and it is expected that nearly 2 million people in the world are suffering from the disease today and regular ejaculation can put a break on the increasing numbers to a some extent.
Moreover, orgasm or ejaculation occurs when semen gets out in series of spurts along with series of hormones of like oxytocin, serotonin and prolactin being released into the body. These hormones give men heavenly pleasure apart from making them relax and sleepy.
