NASA builds telescope 100 times powerful than Hubble
James Webb Space Telescope, successor of 26-year-old Hubble, may find the first galaxies that were formed in the early universe.
The National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) of the United States has successfully completed building the largest space telescope — one that is 100 times powerful than the Hubble Space Telescope and may find the first galaxies that were formed in the early universe.
The James Webb Space Telescope will be the successor of NASA’s 26-year-old Hubble.
The Webb telescope’s infrared cameras are so sensitive that it needs to be shielded from the rays of the Sun. A five-layer sunshield of the size of a tennis court will prevent the heat from interfering with the telescope’s infrared sensors.
The layers work together to reduce the temperatures between the hot and cold sides of the observatory by about 298 degrees Celsius. Each successive layer of the sunshield, made of kapton, is cooler than the one below.
The space agency has also made the first important optical measurement of James Webb Space Telescope fully assembled primary mirror, called a Center of Curvature test.
“This is the only test of the entire mirror where we can use the same equipment during a before and after test,” said Ritva Keski-Kuha, NASA’s Deputy telescope manager for Webb.
“This test will show if there are any changes or damages to the optical system,” Keski-Kuha said.
The space telescope will provide images of the first galaxies ever formed, and explore planets around distant stars.
It is a joint project of the NASA, the European Space Agency and the Canadian Space Agency.

WHY I AM AVOIDING DECCAN CHRONICLE DAILY AND CHANGE OVER TO “THE HINDU”.?
Though Deccan Chronicle daily news English Newspaper is cheaper than Hindu; Indian Express and Regional language news dailies, its quality is also cheaper. At first it started its issue for a single Rupee. So; we started to purchase it even though some unnecessary Hollywood Actor and Actresses divorce cases mainly occurs and re-marriages with some cheap rated news.
On Saturdays and Sundays the cost is little bit higher; that is more 50 paise added up with the normal costs. But pages are not distributed correctly. For example Saturday’s paper contains 56 pages; but they are giving only 32 pages; what about that missing 24 pages means; even if we raise many questions in various platforms; there is no answer from the administration. Then why they are printing it containing pages are 56 in the front page I don’t know.
Now the paper cost is daily 2 Rupees and Saturdays and Sundays 2.50 only. Yes; the cost is very cheap as an International daily. But in our home some objections always raised by our wife for the illustration of un-acceptable posture of Western Actresses. Our only son is studying now at 9th standard. So; quality of discipline is more important than Economical austerity.
From 80s to 90s we are the subscriber of the dailies: “The Hindu and in Tamil: Dina Mani only. After that T.V Telecast news and the cost of living and austerity we decided to stop the dailies. Tamil Daily “Thinakaran” issued and published their edition for a Rupee while in the Election period at that time of 2005-06. So; we bought it. Then that too raised its prices. After some years This Deccan Chronicle made a cheaper revolution in daily news paper issues for a single Rupee. For that novelty itself we started to purchase it. But before it is coming to stall it went to waste paper mart also for its cheaper price; Cost is lesser than its weight for the packing purpose. Some times the paper is not available in the stalls. Even vendors are not interested to distribute this paper in early mornings as a door delivery.
Though “The Hindu” cost is 4Rs. daily and more than 5 Rs. In Sundays; now we are ready to incur for its quality and discipline. Now our son is in the entrance of adulthood; so; the Chronicle like news paper is not suitable for a character building family. So; again we made a U turn to “The Hindu”.
